Our bedroom tour

Since Clara was born over 4 years ago I haven’t actually spent that much time in a bedroom I can call my own. We ended up cosleeping most of the time and seeing as it was a bit of a squeeze having all 3 of us in one bed and Rich was and is a heavy sleeper it worked better with me and Clara being in the spare room so that’s where we stayed until just before her second birthday when she started sleeping on her own in her newly decorated big girls bedroom.

If I’m honest when I moved back into my bedroom I ended up hardly sleeping. I think 2 years of co-sleeping had turned me into the worlds lightest sleeper and whereas before I’d literally slept through anything (including a hotel fire alarm) I now woke at the slightest noise which wasn’t exactly great seeing as Rich, by now used to having a bed to himself, tossed and turned all night flinging limbs everywhere and snored loudly! Luckily for me a couple of months later Elise was born and this time Rich (ever so thoughtfully) offered to leave us in the master bedroom and positioned himself in the spare room with the door firmly shut. Once again we fell into co-sleeping and fast forward another 2 years and a change of country I decided it was probably time to return to the marital bed!

Our house in Spain is a new build and I knew I wanted the room to be light and airy without too much clutter. I love pale greys and white so stuck to those colours however it looked slightly bland with no colour at all so I invested in a bright print for as you enter the room and a big abstract painting for above the bed. I love how it feels now, calming but with a pop of personality.

The above pineapple is an led one that changes colour. Rich looked horrified when I brought it home but it stayed and I love it.

My bedside table is pretty simple with a small clock that also tells you the temperature, a lamp, pineapple candle (Rich isn’t a fan of this one either) and my kindle that I’ve recently been reacquainted with.

We were lucky that the room already had built in wardrobes so lots of storage. I actually use both of these for my things and Rich has the one in the spare room.

There’s a TV in the corner and my new suitcase is a permanent feature at present as I’ve started packing for our upcoming Disney cruise.

They are currently still building around us so we do look out over a bit of a building site but the palm trees and near constant blue sky make up for it!

Underneath the window is our sunshade and both our neighbours have pools.

It’s definitely very different to our previous view from our bedroom in Wales which whilst lovely was nearly always obscured by rain and mist. I think we’ll probably add a few bits as time goes on but for the moment I’m really enjoying my adult only sanctuary even if certain little people do sometimes manage to sneak in!

I love white walls, but you’re right they can look dull. I love that you’ve added pops of colour, bright ones too! It looks fab. I’m debating whether to paint our hallway white….#homeetc

Hi Lindsay, so nice to see fresh white paint and blue skies!! Lucky you. As Stacie says, the pops of colour really do look best on a blank canvas. Keep up the good work! #HomeEtc

Aaah it looks so lovely and bright and fresh — what a difference from Wales!! My husband is Welsh and we always joke that it always rains there. You’ve got wall-to-wall sunshine now!! 🙂
